The MPPSC eligibility criteria 2026 depend on the examination and post you choose. For Assistant Professor Computer Science, meeting the age limit alone is not enough: your postgraduate subject, marks, NET/SET or exemption route, nationality and qualification deadline must also fit the notification.

This article covers Assistant Professor Computer Science, Advertisement 28/2025. It continues our teaching-recruitment series and does not apply the State Service examination’s eligibility rules to a college faculty post.

Updated: 22 October 2026. The conditions below come from the official Computer Science advertisement, read with the 7 September 2026 corrigendum. Later subject-specific amendments take precedence.

MPPSC Assistant Professor CS Eligibility 2026: Overview

Eligibility check

What the notice requires

Normal minimum age

21 years completed

Normal upper-age condition

40 years not completed

Age reference date

1 January 2026

Academic qualification

Relevant, concerned or allied master’s degree

General postgraduate-marks requirement

55%, or equivalent grade where applicable

Qualifying route

Prescribed NET/equivalent, MP SET, or an applicable exemption

Qualification cutoff

1 October 2026, under the September amendment

Nationality

Indian citizens and other categories recognised under the constitutional wording of the advertisement

Treat these as separate checks. A strong academic record cannot compensate for an age condition you do not meet, and an accepted degree does not automatically settle the qualifying-test requirement.

MPPSC Age Limit 2026 for Assistant Professor CS

The ordinary rule is precise: candidates must have completed 21 years, but must not have completed 40 years, on 1 January 2026. Describing this simply as “21–40 years” can mislead someone who has already turned 40.

How to check your age correctly

Use the date of birth recorded in the prescribed school certificate and calculate your age on the notification’s reference date, not on the examination or application date.

Illustrative date of birth

Position on 1 January 2026

Ordinary age condition

1 January 2005

Exactly 21

Meets the minimum

2 January 2005

Has not turned 21

Does not meet the minimum

1 January 1986

Exactly 40

Does not meet the ordinary upper limit

2 January 1986

Has not turned 40

Meets the ordinary upper-age condition

These examples test age only. They do not establish complete eligibility or account for a valid relaxation.

Age relaxation: check the applicable clause

Annexure 1 provides five-year upper-age relaxation for specified categories, including eligible Madhya Pradesh SC/ST/OBC candidates, persons with disabilities and women, along with other listed groups. Its domicile, documentary and other conditions still apply.

The annexure also contains separate provisions for ex-servicemen and specified incentive categories. It states a 45-year ceiling for the relaxations covered there. Guest lecturers have separate age/experience provisions referenced in Annexure 6, so check the relevant route rather than treating every relaxation as identical.

Do not automatically import a central-recruitment formula such as “OBC gets three years.” Likewise, do not assume EWS status alone grants every age concession available to another category.

MPPSC Educational Qualification 2026

Required postgraduate qualification

The general academic condition is a master’s qualification in the relevant, concerned or allied subject from the institution recognised under the notice, with 55% marks or an equivalent grade where a grading system applies.

The Computer Science subject table names Information Technology and Computer Application as allied subjects. Its listed qualifications include:

  • M.Sc. Computer Science or Information Technology.

  • MCA.

  • M.Tech. Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, or Information Technology.

  • M.E. Computer Science/Computer Engineering or Information Technology.

Compare the exact title on your certificate with the printed table and applicable departmental orders. A related course title does not automatically establish official equivalence. A bachelor’s degree alone does not meet this post’s general master’s requirement.

Minimum marks and relaxation

The notice provides a five-percentage-point postgraduate-marks relaxation for specified SC/ST/OBC non-creamy-layer and disability categories, subject to its conditions. Where applicable, the general 55% requirement becomes 50%.

It also contains a separate marks-relaxation provision for eligible PhD holders who obtained their master’s degree before 19 September 1991. Do not treat a marks concession as an exemption from the degree, subject-match or qualifying-route requirements.

If your university uses grades, retain the prescribed conversion evidence. Do not round a borderline percentage upward on your own.

NET, SET and PhD Eligibility Requirements

The relevant postgraduate qualification must be combined with the prescribed NET or recognised equivalent condition unless a valid exemption applies.

The notification accepts the Madhya Pradesh SET route. It specifically states that candidates qualifying another state’s SET/SLET are not eligible through that route under this notice.

A PhD is not an automatic exemption in every case. The notice ties exemption to applicable UGC regulations and supporting certification. For the pre-11 July 2009 registration route, the conditions include regular-mode study, external thesis evaluation, an open viva, publications and conference presentations, with certification by the designated university authority.

Match the PhD registration date and supporting documents to the exact clause. An applicant whose NET result is pending should not assume that a future result satisfies the deadline; an alternative exemption must itself be valid and supported.

Six MPPSC Assistant Professor CS eligibility checks: nationality, age, degree, marks, qualifying route and deadline

MPPSC Nationality Criteria 2026

The advertisement invites applications from Indian citizens and other applicant categories recognised under its constitutional wording. Applicants relying on the latter route should verify the applicable status and evidence with MPPSC rather than assume nationality rules from a different examination apply.

For the usual Indian-citizen applicant, citizenship addresses one eligibility condition; it does not waive the remaining academic or age requirements.

Nationality and MP domicile are different

Nationality concerns citizenship or the applicable recognised status. Domicile concerns the state-residence conditions attached to benefits such as reservation and age relaxation.

An Indian citizen from outside Madhya Pradesh is not automatically excluded solely for being a non-MP resident. However, the notice treats outside-state reserved-category applicants under the unreserved provisions and limits specified state benefits to eligible MP-domiciled applicants.

A foreign postgraduate degree is a separate question again: the qualification must satisfy the notice’s recognition/equivalence conditions. It does not determine the holder’s citizenship.

Revised Qualification Deadline: 1 October 2026

The September corrigendum requires all qualifications by 1 October 2026, including for applicants using the later late-fee window. This supersedes the earlier qualification date in the original advertisement.

For example, an otherwise suitable applicant whose required master’s result is declared on 2 October falls after the revised cutoff. Submitting a form later does not move that deadline.

Keep the age reference date and qualification deadline separate: age is checked on 1 January 2026; qualifications must satisfy the revised 1 October 2026 cutoff.

Documents to Support Your Eligibility

Prepare date-of-birth evidence, postgraduate degree and mark sheets, grade-conversion evidence where needed, NET/MP SET or PhD-exemption documents, and prescribed category, domicile or disability certificates. Add nationality/status evidence if applicable to your claimed route.

An accepted form or admit card does not establish final eligibility. The commission can scrutinise your claims, so every concession should have a matching clause and supporting certificate.

Once the checks are complete, organise preparation with the MPPSC Paper 1 course and Computer Science Paper 2 course. Use the syllabus guide to map resources and the study-and-revision plan to build a routine suited to the time remaining.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an MCA holder apply for MPPSC Assistant Professor CS?

MCA appears in the accepted qualification table. The applicant must also meet marks, qualifying-route, age, nationality and deadline conditions.

Is a 40-year-old eligible without relaxation?

Not under the ordinary rule if the applicant had completed 40 years on 1 January 2026. Check a documented relaxation separately.

Is MP domicile compulsory for every applicant?

The notice permits consideration of outside-state applicants, but MP-specific reservation and age concessions are conditional. Nationality and domicile must be checked separately.

Does a PhD automatically remove the NET requirement?

No. The exemption depends on the applicable regulations and supporting evidence specified in the notification.
